NYSBCA Announces its 67th Annual Convention

NYSBCA will be holding its 67th Annual Convention, October 15-17, 2021 at JFK Airport's new TWA Hotel which opened mid-May of 2019. A one-of-a-kind experience!  Take a tour of the hotel and find out about its history by watching this cool video.

With today’s economy, NYSBCA has also been pushing the importance of not only keeping or getting children on the school bus, but we’ve been trying to educate school districts and leadership about school bus contractors and all aspects associated with private transportation services.  The focus of this year’s convention will be on what school bus options are available, safety in transportation, what expenses we see in the future and what funding is available during COVID and replacement costs of school buses that help our carbon footprint.  Join us for cutting edge information and take time to mingle with old friends and meet new ones.

Nominate Someone You Know for an Award

  • Distinguished Service - NYSBCA recognizes one or more members each year under the category of Distinguished Service. This category is to recognize school bus contractors, suppliers, and/or manufacturers for significant, substantial and special contributions made in the industry. The NYSBCA Awards Committee invites you to nominate your colleague(s) for this special award. Winners will join us for our awards dinner and receive a commemorative plaque.
  • Heart of the Industry - Reichenbach Enterprises created this program on behalf of NYSBCA to honor exceptional employees of our members who have served our industry with distinction. Awards are presented to individuals who epitomize quality of service in and outside the school transportation industry. These employees add to the quality of life in New York State by giving more than is expected from them to work and community. Our Association is aware that it is the mix of both "on the road and off-road employees" who make our school transportation operations successful. This award recognizes the extraordinary importance of both categories of the employee. Winners and a guest of their choice will join us for our awards dinner, receive lodging for the evening and breakfast the following morning. The Employer will assist with additional travel arrangements for award winners. Each winner will receive a Heart of the Industry plaque, and $100 will be donated in the winner’s name to the charity of his or her choice – all sponsored by Reichenbach Enterprises. Only one award will be presented in each category.
  • Roger Weeks Scholarship Award (Contractor of the Year) - The Roger Weeks Scholarship Award is considered one of the highest honors NYSBCA bestows on a member.  It is presented to New York’s Contractor of the Year and is a scholarship offering a $1000 contribution ($500 from the Association and $500 from the contractor company) to one of the contractor’s school districts of choice.

Please mail, fax or e-mail a brief summary of the nominee's accomplishments, indicating what makes him/her worthy of the award.  An NYSBCA Award Committee member may contact you to obtain additional information.  Accompanying materials, especially letters of support, are strongly encouraged. All nominations should be submitted in writing by September 17th to NYSBCA Headquarters by e-mail (info@nysbca.com), fax (518-220-9906) or standard mail (PO Box 268, Latham, NY 12110).
