2025 ROADEO VOLUNTEER & JUDGE LIST | as of 5/14/25

We are still in need of additional volunteers! If you are interested in helping, please email NYSBCA your name and email address to add you to our volunteer list. Volunteers will be fed throughout the day and will receive a volunteer t-shirt (while supplies last). This is a fun and rewarding event—the more volunteers we have, the more enjoyable it will be for everyone!

2025 ROADEO AGENDA & CONTESTANT LIST

We are no longer accepting Driver Applications.

Join us on Saturday, May 17, for the School Bus Safety Competition! Whether you'd like to participate as a driver, judge, volunteer, or simply cheer as a spectator, your support helps promote the importance of school bus safety and honors the dedication of our school bus drivers who safely transport students every day.

**Sign-up deadline: Friday, May 2.**

The Safety Competition, also known as the "Roadeo," is open to all contractors and school district drivers with employer approval and verification. Participation is limited to the first 125 entries or until the deadline of 5/2, whichever comes first—so be sure to register early, as spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event begins with a written test. Then, contestants get behind the wheel of a bus to put their driving skills to the test, competing in one of three categories – Type A (conventional-size vans), Type C (large conventional school buses), and Type D (transit-style flat nose school buses). Drivers can demonstrate their professionalism, skill, and dedication to pupil transportation throughout the competition. The event concludes with an Awards Ceremony announcing the competition winners.

Drivers must complete the Driver Application and employers must complete the Employer Verification form to be eligible to participate in the competition.
